Ailanga Lutheran Junior Seminary

The diocese is building a Lutheran Junior Seminary School at Ngongongare. The Seminary has already begun at hired premises at Legunuke Vocational School with 45 pupils, both boys and girls. The seminary teaches the Tanzanian national secondary school curriculum. On top of that, it emphases religious norms for noble citizens of the future. The premises will be built in phases with phase 1 requiring $200,000. A generous contribution from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg in honor of their 150th anniversary has helped with phase 1 building.

Ailanga Lutheran Junior Seminary has a powerful name! It comes from Isaiah 61 versus 1 "here comes the Light". The Light referring both to Jesus and The Light of Christian Education. Added to the normal high school curriculum is extensive biblical study for which students take a national Bible exam. There is another Junior Seminary that is in Moshi (east of Meru in Northern Tanzania) but there are no other Junior Seminaries in Arusha or Meru. The principal is usually a very highly qualified Pastor. Individuals or congregations interested in supporting the building and operation of this school may contact Pastor Viviane Thomas-Breitfelt at 262-547-2420 or prviviane@goodshp.org
