The Christian Message in a Diverse World

Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson calls Scripture "The First Language of Faith."  I hope you will join us for the 2008 Fall Theological Conference which will explore this concept and its implications for our proclamation in a diverse world of many faiths, many languages.  Our Fall Theological Conference will take place at The Cove of Lake Geneva on Monday, September 22 and Tuesday, September 23 in Lake Geneva, Wis.

To lead us in this conversation, we have invited two of the pre-eminent theologians at our ELCA seminaries to join us:  Dr. Diane Jacobsen, Professor of Old Testament at Luther Seminary, and the Rev. Dr. Winston Persaud, Professor of Systematic Theology at Wartburg Theological Seminary.  Dr. Jacobsen is the director of the "Book of Faith" initiative for the ELCA, and Dr. Persaud brings a rich perspective from his Guyanese upbringing and his astute theological mind (just don't get him talking about cricket).

The Fall Theological Conference is always an important time to gather for worship, for fellowship, for continuing education, and for recreation.  The schedule is arranged so that each of these elements can be enjoyed, with a significant block of time on Monday afternoon designated as "free time" for walking, biking, golfing, tennis, napping, or conversations.

This Conference is being held in September so that we can take advantage of the beautiful fall weather; because of this the registrations will be due sooner than usual, so please be attentive to these dates.
