Report on Campus Ministry Forum

Thank you to all who were able to attend Monday night's forum on Campus Ministry, in what was an emotional gathering for an important conversation of our life together. A special thanks to Pastor David Dragseth and Kevan Penvose who were able to share the history and circumstances of LCM-GM, and to Pastor Ken Wheeler and Sue Cyr for facilitating our conversation together. And finally, thanks to Sally Newman who took notes on the open forum portion of the evening. The following documents are now available:

A Historical Timeline of Campus Ministry was compiled by Pastor David Dragseth with accounts taken from current and former campus ministry pastors and board members.

Please keep Pastor Christine, Pastor Brad, and the communities at Marquette and UWM in your prayers as Campus Ministry begins revisioning as we seek to strengthen its ministry for the young adults in our synod.

The Synod Council Executive Committee, current Campus Ministry board members, and 2 representatives from the Anti-Racism team will be seating 4 new members of the interim board that will help lead Lutheran Campus Ministry in Greater Milwaukee faithfully into the future.

Synod Holy Week Worship Service

Please join us on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Greendale for the Synod's Holy Week worship service. All from our synod are welcome. The service will begin at 10 a.m. Gathering under the theme "I Thirst", worship will include an opportunity for laying on of hands and individual absolution. The Rev. Elias Kitoi Nasari, Rev. Kendra Mohn and Seminarian Richard Suero will give meditations on the text. A reception with cookies and coffee will follow the service.

Worship Service to Lift Up Serenity Inns

The Milwaukee Lutheran Coalition has announced a service of celebration and affirmation for the ministry of Serenity Inns, a place for recovery for those struggling with addiction. The service will take place on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 2:30pm at Hephatha LC, 1720 W. Locust St., Milwaukee.

You are invited to support Serenity Inns through prayer, song, and financial gifts to carry this ministry through a difficult time as it visions the future. Congregational and individual offerings are encouraged. People in recovery will be lifted up in prayer.
