The Greater Milwaukee Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is blessed with congregations which provide Christ-centered, life-giving ministries with and among the poor of its urban communities. The Mission of Outreach for Hope is to develop financial support from individuals and congregations throughout the Synod to assist these Word and Sacrament ministries in being welcoming, nurturing, and vital.

Outreach for Hope puts its emphasis on connecting people through gifts given and gifts received.

• Most often the donations come directly from individuals who generously donate to the Outreach for Hope fund.
• The gifts donated are distributed to congregations and ministries that put a high emphasis on touching the lives of individuals in the poorest areas within the Synod.
• The hope they offer may come through the Outreach of:
  • a meal program
  • a summer youth camp
  • a jobs program
  • neighborhood ministries
  • worship that is meaningful and sometimes ethnically responsive, speaking most directly to people’s hearts.
• Each of these programs is meant to bring both the giver and the receiver closer to the presence of God’s love.
